My challenge was to design and build a 3-dimensional representation of “motion”.

My goal was to convey the motion of a bird going from standing to flight in 3D form, capturing each successive frame of the action as a separate entity. The sculpture consists of seven birds in different stages of flight.

In preparation for my final design, I studied movements of Columbidae in the process of taking flight, so that I could accurately represent their wing and feather positions.
